The Grisly Discovery
The tragedy began with a discovery on the morning of April 5, 1922. The bodies of six individuals were found brutally murdered on the farm: Andreas Gruber (63). His wife Cäzilia (72), their widowed daughter Viktoria Gabriel (35), and her children, Cäzilia (7) and Josef (2), as well as the maid, Maria Baumgartner (44). The horror of the scene was compounded by the realization that the murders likely occurred several days before their bodies were found, possibly on the evening of March 31.
